The Foundation awards renewable (until the end of studies) annual scholarships to applicants from any upper secondary school in Chios who wish to go to university in Greece or pursue postgraduate studies abroad, on condition the requirements are met.
Scholarship eligibility requirements to study in Greece
- The eligible applicants should originate from Chios
- They should be deemed financially incompetent
- They should be junior high-school graduates with an average leaving-certificate grade of “Very Good” and of outstanding conduct
- The eligible applicants for the scholarship who are already in higher education need to have achieved an average mark of 7/10 in the previous year
- The postgraduate eligible applicants who wish to study in Greece need to have obtained their higher-education diploma with an average mark of 8.5/10 minimum
- The scholarship ends if the beneficiary:
- Decides to resign from the scholarship in written form
- Neglects studies or ends them altogether
- Faces charges by a Greek or a foreign court
- Proceeds to overdue submission of the verification of attendance and degrees
Submission of required documents for scholarships in Greece
The eligible applicants will have to fill in their application online and submit it to the Foundation until the 31st October of each year, making sure they have also attached and mailed by post the following documents:
- A certified copy of the applicant’s high-school diploma
- A certification of enrolment and attendance at an institution of higher education, and a certification of the candidate’s entry rank
- Official Transcript of the previous academic year and a certification of enrolment in the new semester (applies only to students already enrolled at the university).
- A certified copy of the applicant’s higher-education diploma (if applying for postgraduate studies)
- A birth certificate verifying that the candidate originates from Chios. If the candidate was not born in Chios, he/she should submit a similar certificate from at least one of his/her parents for the same purpose
- Income tax return statements and inheritance tax statements of the family, as well as the certificate of financial incompetence or the relevant statement issued by the competent body
Scholarship eligibility requirements to study abroad
- The eligible applicants should originate from Chios
- They should be deemed financially incompetent
- The eligible applicants should be junior high-school graduates with an average grade of “Very Good” and of outstanding conduct
- The eligible applicants need to have graduated from a higher-education institution with an average mark of 7.5/10
- They must be fluent speakers of the foreign language in which they are to continue their studies
- They need to have enrolled to a university abroad
Submission of required documents for scholarships to study abroad.
The eligible candidates must fill in an electronic application and submit it to the Foundation until 31st October of each year, making sure they have also attached and mailed by post the following documents:
- A certified copy of the applicant’s high-school diploma
- A certified copy of the applicant’s higher-education diploma
- A certified translated copy of the certification of acceptance and enrollment to a foreign university
- A certified copy of a foreign-language diploma
- A birth certificate verifying that the candidate originates from Chios. If the candidate was not born in Chios, he/she should submit a similar certificate from at least one of his/her parents for the same purpose;
- Income tax return statements and inheritance tax statements of the family, as well as the certificate of financial incompetence or the relevant statement issued by the competent body
Until today, the Foundation has awarded over 1,500 scholarships to study in Greece and 30 scholarships to study abroad.
